The WHO has announced a scientific breakthrough in the treatment of # COVID_19
The drug reduces the risk of death by 30% for patients as severe as those connected to artificial respiration devices. Clinical trials of Dexamethasone in the treatment of coronavirus in the UK are a scientific breakthrough. This was stated by the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Gebrayesus.
According to him, the use of small doses of the drug is a great progress in the fight against the epidemic. Experiments have shown that dexamethasone reduces the risk of death of patients connected to artificial lung ventilation devices by 1/3 and those connected to oxygen devices by 1/5.
Dexamethasone is a steroid that has been used as an anti-inflammatory since the 1960s. It is also used to treat malignant tumors. The WHO notes that the drug only helps with severe disease.
